Wellington Ant Control Services

Contrac2Kill provides a wide range of termination treatments to commercial, domestic and industrial clients.

Ant pest control

Ants are one of the most difficult and challenging insects to control. We will assist you in correctly identifying species, migratory behaviour and nest locations. These are crucial steps to ensure effective and ongoing management.

At Contrac2kill, we always use the most effective service techniques and up-to-date products. We are one of only a few pest control companies in Wellington to hold administrative accreditations for the Biffant treatment programme. We will assist you with recommendations on housekeeping, proofing and exclusion methods to help eradicate pests.

Reasons for ant infestations

Ants are either sugar or protein feeding insects. That’s why they are constantly scavenging around your property for food and crumbs on the floor or work surfaces. They enter premises through cracks, crevices and openings found on your walls, floors, doors and windows. So, it is very important to always keep food in tightly closed containers and to seal all openings that could serve as entry points. One of the main characteristics of these pests is their ability to leave pheromone trails to be followed by others: creating the all too familiar ‘ant trail’.

Seasonal control challenges

Ants are normally more active during the warmer months, but once they establish a nest inside your property, they may be present all year round in. In the spring, they will develop wings and fly to new locations to establish new colonies – this often leads to multiple nests in one location, or in close proximity.

Ant living quarters

Ants predominantly nest in structures or in the ground and seem very content to establish colonies in our homes. Wooden fixtures, saturated by water are a favoured nesting spot. That’s why colonies are often located in wall cavities, ceilings and basements. If they nest underground, you may be able to spot a small mound of dirt, as well as trails along your external walls, paving and fence lines.
